My toddler has recently put this phrase together, and some days it feels like I hear it 397 times before lunch. Help, Mama, I need a drink. Help, Mama, I need a snack. Help, Mama, I need to potty. Help, Mama, my toy broke, and on and on it goes.

He is really a fairly independent boy, who likes to figure things out on his own. However when he encounters a problem too big for him, he knows it, and has no problem running to Mama for help!

Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Just like I am present when my child has a problem too big for him, God is present when life gets too big for me! The difference is that I am not as willing to call out for assistance. I flounder trying to solve problems all in my own strength rather than running to my Father!

Lord, help me today to draw closer to You when life has me discouraged and defeated. Teach me to humble myself and run to You crying, “Help, Father!”
